We’re telling you, no! We didn’t make a mistake in our calculations! We know that Moritz didn’t exist in 1714... Yes it’s true our beer has the longest tradition in Catalonia but we didn’t exist during the War of Spanish Succession. Although... Drum roll, drum roll! Here comes the punch line. We are so invested with our commitment to the country and El Born Centre Cultural that we wanted to dedicate a beer in their honor. Don’t we always say that a brand shows its worth by practicing what it preaches? Well we’ve taken a new product from up our sleeves. The Barcelona Born 17.14 is only available for taste testing at our culinary space in El Born Cultural Center: El 300 del Born. The name 17.14 is not only a heads up to the date we want to pay homage to but also refers to the fact that the beer has an original dry extract of 17.14º Balling. So as not to bore you with technicalities, all that means is that the wort has a 17.14% sugar content. You can use this information to show off in front of your in-laws when you come for dinner at 300. In practical terms, it has a 7.1% alcohol content and is a lager beer aromatized with a blend of honey and ginger and notes of bergamot and cardamom.

By the way, a little warning for drivers: the Barcelona Born 17.14 is an infernal concoction that may seem harmless but after a few you will start to realize that it is indeed infernal.  Understood? Caution!

Who would have told Louis Moritz, who came to Barcelona originally from Alsace, that more than 150 years later his beer would become a symbol of the city, woven in with its culture, gastronomy and history? Without overlooking of course its taste and quality.
